<div><p>This project is part of Ceres Artists in Residence at The Museum of Domestic Design & Architecture (MoDA). The aim of the residency was to use objects from MoDA's collection as a starting point for exploration of natural prints and dyes with the aim of raising the awareness of sustainability in design research.<b><br></b></p></div><div><br></div>Design inspired by Chevron design by Enid Marx, 1946.<div><br></div><div>Design overprinted with different colours and modifiers to obtain a strong change of colour. Small cut out paper stencils to create a camouflage effect to initial arrow design.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Photo, samples front left to right:</div><div><br></div><div>• Silk dyed in red cabbage. Screen printed with soda ash.</div><div><br></div><div>• Linen dyed with pomegranate skins. Screen printed with buckhorn, indigo and acid citric.</div><div><br></div><div>• Wool dyed in red cabbage. Screen printed with buckhorn, indigo, citric acid and madder.</div><div><br></div><div>The fabrics were mordanted before the dyeing process. </div><div><br></div><div>Pastes were made using plant extracts and modifiers.</div>
